NFPA 703 provides enforcers, engineers, and architects with the industry's most advanced criteria for defining and identifying fire retardant-treated wood (FRTW) and fire-resistant coatings for building materials. This Standard helps regulate that the materials are properly classified and tested, for greater confidence in fire safety.
In addition to specific applications for the use of fire retardant-treated material, a new section in the 2015 edition of NFPF 703 clarifies requirements for a material to be considered fire retardant-treated wood.
